Transitioning after 12 years business-to-business publishing in London with Informa Group and Thomas Telford Publishing (Institution of Civil Engineers), Jeremy joined Motivate’s Book Publishing Division, the Gulf’s market-leading illustrated book publisher as Publishing Manager in 2004, accountable for the Book Division’s strategic direction, development and performance.
Headhunted in February 2007, Jeremy left Motivate to join Magrudy’s as CEO, an established book retail chain headquartered in Dubai with 250+ staff. Jeremy was responsible for leading its strategic direction and operational expansion across the United Arab Emirates and wider region comprising retail, wholesale, education and manufacturing. Magrudy’s doubled its retail estate and added two campus bookstores. During his tenure, Magrudy’s won the prestigious Hewitt Best Employer Award for Emerging SME, Middle East 2009.
As part of the founding team from 2008, Jeremy played a lead role as Operations Director to Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, building enduring relationships with international publishers, writers and official partners.
After seven years Jeremy left Dubai in February 2011 to return to London. JeremyBrinton Consultancy’s clients have included Bloomsbury Publishing, Qatar Foundation Publishing Centre and EMI (Abbey Road). Co-founding Spellbinding Media in 2013, Jeremy appointed multiple talented project teams to produce a number of stand-out non-fiction titles, most notably Sol Campbell – An Authorised Biography which attracted global media coverage.
From October 2015 to March 2019, as Head of Publisher Relations, Jeremy was principally responsible for managing more than 3,500 publisher relationships. He gained insight and understanding of changing business needs across the education, business and public sectors ensuring Publishers’ Licensing Services (PLS) continues to develop appropriate collective licensing and rights management services for its primary stakeholders.
Jeremy says he is “passionate about the publishing, literature and literacy. People and relationships matter to me. Through extensive global travel and knowledge of overseas markets I have embraced different cultures and am very open minded.
